Nepal Duty Free Allowances
Here is our guide to your duty free allowances, applicable to travellers and tourists visting Nepal (Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal)The countries only international airport, Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu (KTM) will be the arrival point for passengers.Formerly Gaucher airport, it was renamed Tribhuvan Airport in 1955 and has been Tribhuvan International Airport since 1964.
Individual Duty Free Allowances to Nepal
You are permitted an amount not exceeding 250 grams in total.
In the case of rolling/pipe tobacco that is easily calculated, with cigars and cigarettes it becomes slightly harder, so we would recommend you take no more than 200 cigarettes OR 50 small cigars.
Maximum of 1 litre of hard spirits or wine plus 12 cans of beer/lager.
You are allowed a reasonable amount (in relation to the length of your stay) of perfume/eau de toilette for your own personal use .
Foreign currencies are permitted, but amounts exceeding $2000.00 (Two Thousand United States Dollars) or equivalent must be declared on arrival.
Clothes, baggage including personal and private possetions are permitted but must be declared on arrival. Personal cameras, video equipment and other electronic devices are also allowed, but must be declared on arrival and also on departure.
Over the counter, and prescribed medicines are permitted up to a value of NPR1000. (Nepalese Rupee). Given this small allowance – choose carefully in what you need !
Nepal Tourist VisaTravellers and visitors to Nepal need a visa, and a tourist visa to Nepal is now allowed for up to 150 days per “visa year” (January to December).Visas on Arrival are now available and issued at Tribhuvan International Airport (Kathmandu) and the main land border crossing immigration offices at 1. Kakarvitta, Jhapa
2. Birganj, Parsa 3. Kodari, Sindhupalchowk 4. Belahia, Bhairahawa 5. Jamunaha, Nepalgunj 6. Mohana, Dhangadhi and 7. Gaddachauki, Mahendranagar.
