United Arab Emirates Duty Free Allowances
Here is our outline guide to your duty free allowances when visiting the United Arab Emirates (UAE).The emirates are Abu Dhabi, Ajman, Dubai, Fujairah, Ras al-Khaimah, Sharjah, and Umm al-Quwain.
Duty Free allowances apply to all the emirates unless stated otherwise.
The UAE is an Islamic country, so any religious propaganda, potentially offensive printed material, CD’s, videos or films is strictly prohibited.
No customs duties or taxes are applied to personal belongings brought with you, subject to the limits outlined below. These allowances are for adult travellers/passengers/tourists over the age of 18. Alcohol allowances apply to Non Muslim passengers.Tobacco
400 Cigarettes + 50 cigars + 500 gms of Tobacco.
The total amount of alcoholis spirit permitted is 4 Litres OR 24 cans of beer/lager not exceeding 355 ml per can.
Gifts & Presents
These are allowed up to a total value of AED 3000 (Three Thousand). The official currency of the UAE is the Dirham (abbreviated to DHS or AED).
Some prescribed and over the counter medicines are classed as controlled substances in the UAE. Medication within these categories is not allowed into the UAE without prior permission from the UAE Ministry of Health. You are permitted a reasonable amount for personal use only.
Personal clothes and possetions together with your own mobile/cell phone, laptop computer, video camera, radio, a personal musical instrument, personal sports equipment, childs cot and disabled wheel chair are also permitted.
