THE BALVENIE • THE HANDCRAFTED MALT …
THE BALVENIE is unlike all other single malt Scotch whiskies, thanks to a unique combination of human craft and natural alchemy. Neither our craft nor nature’s mysteries have changed in over a century. We make whisky the way we always have. There’s no question of a compromise: it’s keeping faith with our rare crafts that brings The Balvenie’s unique character to the glass. Nowhere else will you find a distillery that still grows its own barley, still malts in its own traditional floor maltings and still employs a team of coopers to tend all the casks and a coppersmith to maintain the stills.
THE BALVENIE is a unique range of single malts crafted by Malt Master David Stewart. Each is unique, but all are rich, luxuriously smooth and underpinned by a distinctive honeyed character. Understanding the traditions of his craft like few others, David retains a passion for experimentation, using different cask types and ages of spirit to add new expressions to The Balvenie range.
We think travellers are pretty special too, which is why we we’ve created exclusive expressions of THE BALVENIE which are only available at airports globally. THE BALVENIE GOLDENCASK 14year old, for example, is a rare treat. In the crafting of GoldenCask, Balvenie is carefully aged for many years in traditional oak whisky casks and then transferred into barrels that had previously held golden Caribbean rum for a final period of maturation.
Characterised by fruity sweetness and subtle spice, The Balvenie GoldenCask is only available in duty free and is non chill-filtered and bottled at a strength of 47.5% abv.
Add to your exclusive collection further with the limited edition THE BALVENIE 17 Year Old Peated Cask and The BALVENIE PortWood 21 Year Old. Both are bottled at a higher alcoholic strength (47.6% abv) for duty free and are not chill filtered as they are in domestic markets • this makes them ideal for gifters and collectors alike.
If you’re really into your single malts, and want something very, very special, look out for the limited edition The Balvenie Forty. Malt Master David Stewart has skilfully married together small amounts of The Balvenie matured in 4 refill hogsheads and 3 sherry butts that have lain in our warehouses for at least forty years. Each batch includes just 150 hand numbered bottles, with the first • and just released third • batch again exclusive to duty free.
And when you’re next in Scotland, then a visit to our distillery in Speyside, brings THE BALVENIE story to life. We hope to see you all there one day: our doors are always open to those who care about our craft.
