It’s not that the signs to the departure gates are pointing the wrong way or that the clocks tell the wrong time. It’s just that there’s so much to do. From watching the latest Hollywood blockbuster and taking a stroll through the colourful outdoor gardens to letting the kids loose in the family play zone or being pampered with a beauty treatment, the traveller is spoilt for choice.As for the shops, well the selection is as broad and as exciting as we’ve come to expect from Singapore Changi. The Asian hub has won countless awards down the years for its shopping offer and it’s not hard to see why looking around T2. Luxury fashion is a particular strong point. T2 boasts everything from timeless British leather accessories and outerwear from the likes of Alfred Dunhill and Burberry to upmarket Italian jewellery (Bvlgari) and Shanghai Tang, the first Chinese luxury goods brand to make a name for itself on the international stage.The aptly named Fashion Gallery conveniently gathers many of these A-list fashion and accessories brands under one trendy roof. Open from 06.00 to 01.00, fashionistas can literally shop around the clock. Aigner, Cartier, Chloe, Folli Follie, Tod’s, Swarovksi, Salvatore Ferragamo, Furla, Repetto and YSL are just a few of the hot designer brands stocked at this recently opened store.

Sexy US lingerie specialist Victoria’s Secret is another new addition to the T2 shopping line up and the perfect place for couples to pop by before a romantic getaway. The emphasis here is on the brand’s fun and flirty beauty products such as the new Fabulous range of fragrances, body mists and lotions. If that wasn’t steamy enough, the new store also features a video wall showing footage of Victoria’s Secret supermodels.

If you are looking to stock up on duty-free liquor or tobacco, T2 won’t disappoint. Duty-free retailer DFS Group boasts four departure shops and two arrivals stores, which all offer a great range of premium wines, spirits and cigarettes. The two arrivals stores and one of the four departure outlets are open for business 24/7, while the remaining two shops trade from six in the morning to one o’clock at night.Wine and cigar aficionados should also make a beeline for the newly opened Vine & Leaf store at T2. It sells a great range of handmade cigars and top-class wines from both the New and Old Worlds. The shop has its own tasting bar and a temperature controlled enomatic cooler so that travellers can taste a selection of premium wines in optimum conditions. The only downside of this store is the lack of a website so that customers can browse and pre-order from the selection before they arrive at the airport.Orchids are a stunning flower variety and Singapore with its renowned Botanical Gardens is rightly famous for them. These colourful blooms make a great souvenir or gift as long as your return journey is a short one. It’s good to know then that Top Orchids in the Terminal 2 departures lounge stocks a great range of freshly cut orchids packaged in a gift boxes. The shop also sells orchid plants, artificial orchids and a range of floral jewellery.

Three of Singapore’s top tourist attractions (Singapore Zoo, Night Safari and the Jurong Birdpark) have a combined presence in T2. The longwinded Singapore Zoo, Night Safari and Jurong Birdpark outlet is a colourful, nature-inspired shop, which majors on cuddly animal toys, which would make great presents for any little ones back at home.
