L.F.Wade Duty Free Airport Shopping
Formerly named Bermuda International Airport and L.F. Wade International Airport since 2007, we found Bermuda’s international airport remarkably relaxing.Arranged as one terminal over two floors, it’s located less than 7 miles from Bermuda’s capital, Hamilton.Whilst Bermuda is a self governing British Overseas Territory rather than as an independent country, the airport offers US Customs pre-clearance for those passengers heading for the United States and as such their flights are classed as domestic rather than international.
The airport is operational from 05:00 to midnight and most of the airport stores are open from 6.30am.The duty-free outlets are not extensive but do stock basic ranges of liquor, cigarettes and tobacco, cosmetics, perfumes, watches and toiletries together with local Bermudian specialties, Goslings Rum and Original Horton’s Black Rum Cakes certainly at the top of our list, both at the check-in and international departure areas.Bermuda Duty Free operate the new arrivals duty free store, located between the Immigration arrivals hall and the baggage reclaim area. Purchases here are subject to the allowances limit (see our guide Bermuda Duty Free Allowances)
The retail offer including snacks and newspapers is provided for by the ever professional Pulp & Circumstance whilst food and drink is available from Island Coffee, La Trattoria and the Sports Bar. For those travelling with young children there is a good play area.
There is a currency exchange together with Bank of Butterfield and Bank of Bermuda ATMs on both floors of the terminal and free Wi-Fi internet access is available within designated areas.
The disabled facilities at LF Wade, unlike many airports, extends way beyond disabled persons parking facilities and includes a passenger transporter system that really is brilliant.
