Don Muang Airport is the smaller of the two international airports in Bangkok which comprises of a modest 2 terminals. Terminal 1 for international flights and Terminal 2 for domestic flights. Although Don Muang is the smaller of the two international airports in Bangkok, it still has on average 30 million passengers per year passing through its doors. After undergoing renovations and closing in 2006 and reopening in 2007 you will find plenty of duty free shops, restaurants and bars as well as hair and beauty services.

Travelling from Don Muang Airport to Central Bangkok can be done in numerous ways. Here we take you through the cheapest and most reliable ways of getting into the centre. 


  • There is a taxi stand located at the front of the Arrivals Hall for International & Domestic Terminals
  • Distance between Don Muang and Central Bangkok is about 23k and a taxi ride will between 30 minutes to an hour depending on traffic.
  • All of the taxis should be metered. If you cant see a meter make sure you ask your driver to turn it on.
  • If your driver takes the tollway passengers will be required to pay a toll fee. So it would be advisable to let your driver know before you set off you would like to avoid the toll.
  • There are 2 routes that run from Don Muang Airport into Central Bangkok – The A1 and the A2. Both buses are orange colored and take around 25-30 minutes to get you into Central Bangkok. 
  • You will find the Bus stop located in arrivals at Door 6.
  • The A1 and A2 run every 12 minutes so if you happen to miss your bus or if they are over crowded you can always wait for the next one.
  • Some of these buses will have baggage storage underneath which will make for a more comfortable journey.
  • Buses run from 7:30 – 00:00 
  • Using the Train or Metro can be great if your hotel is near a MRT Metro and BTS Skytrain station.
  • Although the fare is low the trains can be unreliable, irregular and slow. 
  • To get into Central Bangkok you will need to get a train coming from the North or Northeast. 
  • The train station is a 15 minute walk from Don Muang arrivals terminal. You will need to cross over the main highway on a footbridge which links the second floor of the terminal to the station platform.
