Costa Rica Duty Free Allowances
Arriving passengers and tourists to Costa Rica are permitted the following allowances of good free of duties and taxes.Most international arrivals will clear customs at the two main airports Juan Santamaría International (SJO) hub for Sansa Airlines, Copa Airlines and Avianca and Daniel Oduber Quirós International Airport (LIR) both serving San José.Personal allowances apply to all passengers, age restrictions do apply.
3 litres of alcoholic. Passengers must be 18 years of age or older.
400 cigarettes or 50 cigars or500 gms of tobacco.
A reasonable quantity of perfume for your personal use and in quantities commensurate with your stay.
Personal and private effects including clothing are permitted.
Arms and Ammunition
Weapons have to be handed to the airline check-in staff and will be returned to the passenger upon arrival at destination. Firearms must be declared on entry and on departure. Weapons must be emptied and reviewed by airport police. Firearms must be carried in a safe container that complies with airline safety standards.
