China is planning to open 100 new airports by 2020, and the biggest by far will be the mega airport, Beijing Daxing International Airport.Located south of Beijing and covering close on 55 sq kilometres (34 sq miles) it will be the Chinese capitals third airport after Beijing Capital and the smaller Beijing Nanyuan Airport.
Currently under construction it has a target completion date of 2017.
It is expected that the scope and choice of tax and duty free shopping will be as extensive as the airport itself. When completed and fully operational Beijing Daxing will be China’s largest and the world’s busiest airport.Updated: September 2012.
